The FreddyLink “Water is Life” fund-raiser is raising funds to help provide safe and accessible water, construct water stations & latrines and rehabilitate wells to create real and lasting change for Haitian families. But did you know that this fund-raiser is part of the global WASH strategy of World Vision?
World Vision believes that sustainable well-being is impossible without sustainable, equitable access to clean water, dignified sanitation and appropriate hygiene behaviours. World Vision, therefore, has a bold strategy for water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) to reach every child in all World Vision programming areas by 2030. This strategy encompasses not only sustainable clean water access, dignified sanitation, and healthy hygiene behaviours, but extends to broader water considerations including environmental impact and sustainability. WASH is also only one piece of the development puzzle. Without integration with other sectors – including education, maternal and child health, nutrition, livelihoods, and more – the impact of WASH programs will have a limited effect. (Source)
The WASH strategy has become all the more important in light of the coronavirus pandemic. In fact, access to clean water, sanitation, and healthy hygiene represents an important part of the first line of defense against COVID-19.
We at FreddyLink are proud to be a part of this global WASH effort, and we hope you will join us as we help protect some of the world’s most vulnerable children.
