I received the great news in an email, my sponsored child’s community is ready to fly!
We started sponsoring Franck in 2014 when he was 13 years old. We watched him grow over the years through the photos in his annual updates to be a fine young man. I was also blessed to be able to meet Franck and his family in person on one of our trips to Haiti. He was such a joy to visit, with his sunny disposition, his great sense of humor and his infectious smile.
I celebrate the progress that Franck’s community has made. It has been a long journey from poverty to self sufficiency, and I have been so impressed by the dedication of the community members in this process. I am so happy to have been able to help with this journey, and I wish Franck and his family all the best in the coming years.
As much as I celebrate this milestone, I am also sad that our time with Franck is coming to an end. I will miss hearing about how he is doing and watching him grow. And so I say goodbye to Franck with a mixture of joy and sadness.
In life, as one door closes, another opens. As we say goodbye to Franck, we now say hello to a new sponsored child in a new community. Joce is 6 years old, and lives in a community in the north of Haiti which is just beginning the journey to self sufficiency. I am so looking forward to getting to know Joce better, and to being a partner in their journey to a better future. I also hope the day will come that I can once again return to Haiti, and to meet Joce and his family in person.
